Finding Videos in MNCAT

When you want to find LRC videos in MNCAT use the "Advanced" search interface. It allows you to limit your search by format and location. Since MNCAT now contains the combined holdings of the University Library system in Morris, Duluth, Rochester, and the Twin Cities, the location limiter is very helpful when all you want to find are those videos available at LRC.

From the MNCAT "basic" search screen, click on "Advanced" in the upper left portion of the screen, next to the MNCAT All Campus logo. At the "Advanced" search screen you can enter keywords in the three drop down boxes. You can supply keywords or phrases as parts of titles, author names, publisher or producer names, LC subject terms, contents notes, or use the shotgun approach of just "general" keywords when you’re not sure where the terms you want to search on would be stored in a catalog record.

After you supply the keywords to search on you can limit your search further by date, language, format, and location. Use the drop down menus to select the appropriate limiter for your search. For videos select "Videos/Films/Motion Pictures" at the format box. If you're interested in sound recordings held at LRC you can select "non-music sound recordings" at the format box.

To limit your search to just those materials held at LRC select "Learning Resources Center" from the drop down menu at the location box.

When you're satisfied with the search criteria you've entered click the submit button.
